 | CLUB NEWS | Thu 25th Feb 2010 | UPDATED - Winter Venues |
Following the postponement of Fifth Year exams being held in the Nicolson Institute Assembly Hall, the Club has been advised of a revised list of dates when we're likely to be shooting in the Matheson Hall due to Nicolson Institute events being held in their Assembly Hall.
The Club has also recently had a large influx of beginners, which would mean that the shooting line would be too crowded if both beginners and existing Club members turned up at the same time for the evenings we are in the Matheson Hall. So, the Club has decided to shift the Club members shooting night to Tuesday evenings for the first two weeks of February (ie Club shooting nights will be on Tuesday 2nd and Tuesday 9th February 2010), before reverting to our more usual Wednesday evening slot when we return to the Assembly Hall on Wednesday 17 th February. Our new novices will take the Club's Wednesday night slot in the Matheson Hall for Wednesday 3rd and Wednesday 10th February 2010.

 | CLUB NEWS | Wed 6th Jan 2010 | Adverse weather hits indoor shooting |
According to the latest information from the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, the Nicolson Institute will be shut on 6th January due to concerns about the weather and freezing conditions under-foot:-
"The majority of schools in the Western Isles should be open tomorrow [6th January].
9 schools will definitely be shut to pupils - Balallan, Breasclete, Bernera, Pairc, Sgoil nan Loch, Sir E. Scott, Uig, Barvas and The Nicolson Institute. More work will be carried out to clear pavements around schools but care will need to be exercised on footpaths and public car parks.
Schools opening are subject to weather conditions and further information will be issued as appropriate.
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is continuing to take all reasonable steps to keep roads ice-free but grit stocks are low. Priority gritting is taking place and efforts are being made to bring in more supplies of grit."
Unfortunately, since the Nicolson Institute is closed to pupils due to Health & Safety concerns about car parks, pavements, and footpaths, it is more than likely that it will also affect the Club's scheduled shooting night, and therefore, with some reluctance, Island Archers has had to cancel its shooting session on the night of 6th January.

 | CLUB NEWS | Tue 13th Oct 2009 | Island Archers hits Facebook |
Bringing the Club's online presence completely up-to-date, webmaster Toby would like to draw attention to the Facebook group he has created for all members, past and present, of Island Archers. Although the Island Archers Facebook group is by no means entirely new, it has not been as publicised as it might.
However, the group offers a number of secure features not already catered for by the Club's existing web presence. These features for genuine members, include a discussion board, the ability to create an events calendar, and upload photos, web links, and video footage.
